Annie and Aurore’s story began as that of client and attorney.

Annie, a star principal in the New York City public school system had her life turned upside down after an abusive ex launched a campaign of defamation and public shaming.

As the tabloids amplified her ex’s lies, Annie was terminated from her job and lost her livelihood and reputation overnight. As a single parent needing to rebuild her life, Annie enrolled in law school and eventually retained a victims’ rights law firm. Aurore, a senior attorney at the firm with a formidable reputation for defeating powerful opponents, took on Annie’s case.

With Aurore as her attorney, Annie fought back, cleared her name, and won a large settlement against New York City’s Department of Education.

After graduating from law school, Annie went directly to work with Aurore and the two quickly became a powerful duo. Annie’s first hand understanding of clients’ trauma and loss of control allowed her to connect deeply with clients’ experiences and gain their valued trust. Meanwhile Aurore had long mastered her own brand of unapologetic and fiery advocacy, deployed with surgical precision to take down powerful individuals and institutions that had stripped away clients’ autonomy and dignity.

  • Founding Partner Aurore DeCarlo has spent more than 20 years fighting for the rights of victims. She has led teams of attorneys, social workers, and community organizers to advocate for policy changes and has litigated hundreds of cases on behalf of the disenfranchised and/or those whose rights have been unjustly stripped away from them.

    Aurore is known as a fierce and fiery advocate who adopts nimble and innovative legal strategies on behalf of clients.

    Aurore has developed a formidable reputation in litigating high profile and sensitive matters in the areas of employment law, gender discrimination, sexual violence, privacy rights, Title IX proceedings and litigation, and defamation defense. She has battled educational and religious institutions, school districts, corporate employers, powerful individuals, corporate landlords and developers, as well as city, state, and federal agencies in hundreds of cases in state and federal courts all over the country.

    Aurore is also considered a go-to expert in the area of defamation defense; particularly in cases where clients have spoken up about their experiences of sexual harassment and sexual assault only to be sued by retaliatory offenders. She has successfully defended dozens of cases, protecting her clients’ rights to speak publicly about their experiences without a single client being held liable for defamation or having to take back their truth.

  • Founding Partner Annie Seifullah’s proudest legal achievements include six- and seven-figure payouts to victims of abuse and assault, a 7-figure settlement against a police force for wrongful imprisonment, and countless final orders of protection for individuals escaping abusive relationships.

     Annie’s ability to deeply connect with her clients and fiercely advocate for them is an outcome of being a survivor of intimate partner violence and image-based sexual abuse. Relying upon her own experiences and advocacy work, Annie authored the book Scarlet Hashtag: Transform Your Public Shame into Your Power to help others who are working to overcome the same.

     Annie is also the co-chair of the New York Cyber Abuse Task Force – a coalition of agencies, attorneys, and advocate working to end technology-facilitated abuse.

  • Litigation Fellow Kate Kelly joined Incendii Law in Fall 2025.

    Kate is a nationally recognized expert in gender justice and human rights, with a career spanning federal legislative policy, advocacy, and international litigation. She has served as legislative and policy director for two different U.S. Congresswomen, and — most recently — she led the Women’s Initiative at the Center for American Progress. Kate’s international human rights work spans across Africa and Latin America.

    Now, Kate is pivoting toward domestic litigation to fight for justice in U.S. courtrooms. She is admitted to practice in Washington, D.C. and is pursuing admission in New York. Her fierce commitment to survivors and systemic change makes her a perfect match for Incendii Law’s mission and momentum.

  • Of Counsel Regina Powers is a client-centered advocate who has spent her career fighting for people subjected to abuses of power and other civil rights violations inside jails and prisons, as well as survivors of police brutality. 

    Regina has represented numerous survivors of sexual abuse in jails and prisons, including a survivor testifying before the U.S. Senate on federal prison sexual abuse, which was critical to passage of the Prison Camera Reform Act. Prior to joining Incendii Law, Regina helped secure the largest civil rights verdict in the Northern District of New York for the family of a man beaten to death by corrections officers in prison, contributed to the largest pre-verdict settlement with New York City for a man who suffered a hypoxic brain injury on Rikers Island, won certification of a class action challenging the NYPD's racially biased marijuana policing, and prevailed in a federal appeal establishing constitutional liability for jail suicides during drug withdrawal.

    Regina's dedication to advocating for incarcerated people began at Harvard Law School, where she represented clients in parole proceedings, helping secure the release of individuals serving life sentences.

We created Incendii Law to provide a model of legal services that deploys a dynamic approach when clients are in crisis.

Because our clients need more than legal help.

They have survived significant losses and traumas. They’ve lost control. They are drowning in a world where powerful forces have either turned against them or failed to protect them. They are experiencing pain, loss, and confusion that may not end, even after a legal victory.

Despite the extremely common “secondary trauma” that comes when standing up to a powerful foe or regaining one’s footing, many law firms ignore this element of the client’s journey. Traditional law firms see a legal matter, not a whole human.

Incendii actively rejects the traditional lawyer-centered model and provides wraparound support for its clients’ well-being, in partnership with other specialists.
